Release order is my default recommendation. You feel the series evolve — from the grounded 2000 film to the prequel reboot with First Class, to the timeline reset in Days of Future Past, to the genre-bending Deadpool entries. Crucially, Days of Future Past hits far harder when you've already watched the original trilogy it goes back to fix.
Chronological (timeline) order
This groups the films by when their events take place rather than when they were made. It's a good second watch, but be warned: Days of Future Past deliberately splits the timeline, so total consistency is impossible.

Because Disney now owns this library, most of the live-action X-Men films tend to live on its streaming service in markets where that service operates, with the R-rated Deadpool entries sometimes on a sister platform or available to rent.
